We went to see Kelly Clarkson perform at Hollywood & Highland for a Jimmy Kimmel taping last night. About 5,000 fans crammed into the courtyard area, and when the pre-show DJ put on a Kanye West song, the crowd booed. Then the DJ scratched out of the song—and put on Taylor Swift, to a pretty hearty round of applause. Though there were some tourist walk-ons, this was a mostly typical pop audience—gays, girls, the guys they dragged along—and we were all predisposed to be Team Kelly. But it says something about the half-life of a celebrity fall-out that a hot-blooded audience isn’t limiting its reaction to Twitter.
This is my favorite of that meme, by the way. When needed, Adam Lambert can break anything with his gayness.
